CeYA Young Adults"Lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called..." -Ephesians 4:1
CeYA in Washington
April 25 is Ohio State Day at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. That means the cathedral will honor Ohio, its people and heritage on that Sunday, and the bishops of the Diocese of Southern Ohio are planning an excursion to the nation's capital for members to join in the celebration. CeYa, Christ Church Cathedral's young adult ministry, is signing on for occasion. Buses will depart Cincinnati on Friday morning, April 23, and return late Sunday evening, April 25. The cost is $100 for the trip per young adult, which includes bus fare, hotel room (double occupancy at L'Enfant Plaza near the mall) and breakfast and lunch on Sunday at the cathedral. Among the trip highlights will be a visit to Capitol Hill to meet with representatives from Episcopal Public Policy Network. There will also be an opportunity to meet with veteran broadcast journalist and Episcopalian Judy Woodruff. On Sunday, after the morning service of Holy Communion, a tour of the cathedral will be given. If you are interested in joining the CeYA group for this trip, contact J.J. Engelbert.
Overview of the Young Adult Ministry
These days young adults are restless for faith, for community, for guidance, for God. They are the most transient group in our churches. As they deal with college and graduate school, navigate their way through new careers, and possibly start families, young adults are increasingly seeking ways to reconnect both with their peers and with God. One of our ministries designed to serve the members of this group, just as they are, is the newly-named CeYA or Cincinnati episcopal Young Adults group. Its purpose is to provide a faith-based network of young adults in the Cincinnati area regardless of home parish or denomination (hence the lowercase e in episcopal). CeYA intends not to replace existing local young adult ministries, but to supplement what is available through coordinated communication and contribute additional offerings as needed. The current focus of CeYA is on fellowship and education gatherings with occasional events that are geared toward service and outreach. Educational programs typically center around a discussion. Social events have included an Olympics party, a nighttime visit to a corn maze, pool parties during the summer, and an evening out on Mainstrasse in Covington. Newcomers are welcome to join us at any event. Contact J.J. Engelbert for more information. For archived CeYA newsletters, click here. |
