Community Issues Forum

"Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding." -Romans 14:19

People interested in issues confronting the Greater Cincinnati community are regulars at the cathedral's Community Issues Forum from September through May. It takes place in the cathedral's lower level (the undercroft) every other Thursday at noon. The forums are free and open to all. Attendees may bring their own lunch or buy one at the cathedral for $5.50.

We kick off our 2010-11 series on September 9. The focus of the discussion will be the race for the open seat on the Hamilton County Commission. Chris Monzel, the Republican candidate, and Jim Tarbell, the Democratic candidate, will make their cases for election to this position.

County services and responsibilities have grown over the years. Meanwhile, fiscal difficulties have plagued Hamilton County for several years. The issue over funding for the stadiums is the most recent example of this financial dilemma. Chris Monzel, currently a member of Cincinnati City Council, and Jim Tarbell, a former Cincinnati Vice Mayor, will discuss these problems as well as reviewing their priorities for Hamilton County government. As usual, time will be set aside for questions and comments from the audience.
