Programming for Youth
Lenten ProgramOur annual Lenten program for youth runs concurrently with the adult program. This year's adult program is entitled, Deep Christianity: Where Manger and Cross Collide. The youth program will be a discussion series, led by J.J. Engelbert, and will grapple with the ways God can be found in difficult times. The program will take place on Wednesdays in Lent, February 24, March 3, 10, 17 and 24. The event will begin with a Taize prayer service at 6:00 p.m., followed by a supper at 6:30 and the presentation at 7:15. Youth Mission Trip
Our
youth group will be going on a mission trip to Appalachia in West
Virginia June 13-19, 2010. If you would like to participate, as a youth
or a chaperone-volunteer, please download the information packet from the forms section below,
and leave the application and your $25 deposit at the cathedral reception desk, care of J.J. Engelbert. If you have any questions or would like
to help with fund raising or other aspects of the trip, contact youth
minister J.J. Engelbert. Overview of the Youth ProgramOur
youth programs help young people meet the challenges of their lives in
a manner that promotes health and wholeness, self-respect and respect
of others. During the program year, September through May, the youth
group meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday mornings. During
this time, youth hang out with youth minister J.J. Engelbert and
cathedral clergy for fun, friendship and spiritual growth. Of course,
lunch is served. For those youth who are earlier risers, there is a
class at 9:00 a.m. where junior and senior high youth (grades 7-12) can
talk about the Bible, faith and teen issues. Want to Help?If you are an adult who cares about kids, ask J.J. Engelbert about how you can become a youth mentor.
